| Description: | Dalai Lama: Greeted by Nehru, Blasts Reds "Prime Minister Nehru meets with Dalai Lama at the exiled god-king's sanctuary in the Indian hill town of Mussoorie. Nehru, a man slow to anger, is severe in his criticism and denunciation of the Red Chinese Communist aggression in Tibet. Recalling when Chou En-Lai, then visiting New Delhi, had assured Nehru that Peiping would honor Tibet's sovereignty and would not force Communism on that little and deeply religious country. Events have proved the worthlessness of the Communist promise, for in bloody fashion Chou En-Lai has broken not only the laws of humanity but his personal word to Nehru." Nehru stands in open convertible, drives past crowds lining streets, then rides horseback along with other men. Press photographers and newsreel cameramen crowd behind ropes. Dalai Lama (Bstan-'dzin-rgya-mtsho, 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso) exits building, greets Nehru (with a ceremony or ritual involving a white cloth - part of greeting?). The two pose for the journalists. | |
