| Description: | DAN DARE Family members pose for artist Frank Hampson's Dan Dare comic strip at his home. Cartoonist Frank Hampson, creator of the science fiction comic "Dan Dare", is shown at work. ("Dan Dare" , first published in 1950, was featured in the British boys' magazine "Eagle".) Epsom, Surrey MS rocket is seen diagonally suspended in blackness; lights come up and we are looking down at 2 men entering room below the rocket (which is suspended above them). Closer ground level shot of the men discussing rocket, one is the artist in a suit, the other is an elderly man in a military uniform with a lot of badges including some unusual ones, this is his father who is a model for one of the characters in the comic strip. MS young boy in normal clothes (the artist's son Peter, age 8) stands beside a spaceman in bright red suit with yellow helmet, and some sort of space pack on his back; they stand facing away in a corner of a room with a model of Earth, other props they seem to be looking at, looks like CU of boy and spaceman. MCU Peter and Frank looking over green alien mask ("a Treen from the planet Venus"); Frank Hampson puts the Treen mask on the kid. CU kid in creepy green mask, tilting back and forth. Cut between MCU/CU artist at drawing board/ MS/ MCU his father posing as the character. CU artist's pen drawing picture of his father into a frame of comic; other frames in it are already drawn, some with color. MS pan on a table which has various different things used as models; pan up to rocket hanging above. MS artist drawing; boy and Spaceman suit guy come over to watch; then grandpa and a woman. Another CU of the artist's hand drawing a scene of rockets in outer space. | |
