| Description: | DANCE OF SPRING Eccentric dancing in a country house setting by women dressed in Greek tunics - quite funny. Modern dance performance by Miss Helen May and her pupils. Young girls wearing Grecian tunics & narrow headbands dance in a beautiful terraced garden with ornamental shrubbery and statues. They dance in bare feet. Very stylised movements. They come running in, then go round in a line doing strange movements. One dancer carries a lyre so perhaps the costumes are to signify ancient Greece. Miss May herself, dressed in a a leopard skin goes running through the line and strikes a dramatic pose in BG. The girls finish their bit, and all freeze in poses around her. While they remain frozen, Miss May comes tearing off her pedestal and goes into a frenzied dance like a whirling dervish, which she ends by falling suddenly to the ground! Then, a small girl with wings on her back, perhaps she is Cupid, comes skipping out & magically awakens Miss May with a kiss, who then prances around in another dance. | |
