At the Royal School for Deaf and Dumb Children we see various shots of teacher Miss Massey encouraging young children in a classroom to use their vocal chords. SLS Classroom of young deaf pupils. Female teacher is gesticulating with her hands and lips various sounds. MS Teacher pointing to blackboard (letters F TH S SH P CH K) and blowing on a piece of paper in her hand. She kneels in front of one of the pupils and the pupil blows the paper also. SCS. Pupil and teacher blowing at papers to produce the required sound. CS. Teacher blowing at piece of paper. CS. Pupil blowing at piece of paper. CS. Teacher blowing at piece of paper. SCS. Teacher blows onto pupil's hand so that she can feel the vibration. The pupil then tries to repeat the vibration. CS. She points to a bow. SCS. Teacher forming the word bow with her lips. MS Small boy picks up a bow out of a box and places it on the equivalent picture on the table. SCS. Teacher forms the word pram on her lips and points to same on diagram. MS Boy looks at box and girl points it out for him. He places it on the drawing and gives a (clever) look at the camera. SCS. Teacher forming the word brush. MS Girl picks brush out of box places it on the drawing. Teacher then mouths the word ball. The girl places same on drawing. SLS The first classroom of pupils again. Teacher is holding a balloon. One pupil goes to her and also holds the balloon. SCS. Teacher speaks onto balloon so that girl can feel vibration. Girl tries to repeat it. (The word is bow). CS. Girl repeating word bow. SCS. Teacher mouthing the word brush and girl repeating. Teacher emphasizes the SH by blowing on the girl's hand. CS.
