| Description: | This segment pertains to modern advances in communication for the hearing-impaired. A group of children are sitting in a classroom with their desks arranged in a circular formation. Two girls have telephones on their desks, one boy has a large red contraption on his. A teacher is standing at the head of the room and speaking as the children pay attention. Then there are several CUs of the different students (cute kids). Some of them are wearing glasses and they all have hearing aid pieces in their ears. There is a classroom experiment with the red contraption named the Teletrainer and the telephones. A boy presses a button on the Teletrainer and it signals one of the phones. A girl picks up the phone and talks into it. Then the second girl with a telephone on her desk is shown speaking into her phone, but she does not hold it up to her ear. She is holding it upside-down so that she is only utilizing the speaker portion. CU of her lips speaking into the receiver. CU of first girl talking into her phone holding it the usual way. More shots of individual students and the classroom. | |
