M/S tableau of St Trinians on back of lorry. Two boys watching, one dressed as a Russian the other as a guardsman. M/S man dressed on knight on horseback goes through crowds. Another comic gladiator is dragged through on a horse on wheels. A woman dressed in bonnet and shawl fills tankard with beer from a barrel. M/S man drinks - he's taking part in All-Sussex Ale Quaffing championship. (The winner downed 3 pints in 28 seconds.) Woman wearing giant head collects money from spectators. M/S group of men, all bearded. Woman comes into group and starts pulling beards (to check they're real). This is a best beard competition. One contestant (Denzil Spears) combs his beard whilst a woman holds up a small mirror. Another man brushes his beard and another has his beard measured. Shots of crowd applauding. M/S man with beard gets on rostrum and then followed by all the other bearded men. The winner is local man Dudley Partridge. | |
