It does not seek peace by appeasement or surrender but it does seek peace always and will continue to do so, by means of honorable negotiation and conciliation. It considers a war stopped even more important than a war won. It believes that there is a desirable and possible alternative to victory in war. Namely the termination of the war before it has been fought to a victorious conclusion by anyone. There by saving untold lives human misery and destruction. We in the United Nations are convinced that no greater service to mankind can be rendered then unceasing effort towards peace". | |
