| Description: | See also catalog # 514275. EARL MARSHAL TALKS TO PRESS. Press conference about the upcoming coronation of Elizabeth II. Belgrave Square, London. CU Earl Marshall, Duke of Norfolk, seated on dais. LV Earl Marshall rises to talk. SV Earl Marshal talking (natural sound): "In 1911, they decided that they would have a still photographer, but cinematographs were not far enough advanced to be of any value. When we came to 1937, I remember having to tell the color photographers that we couldn't have a colored film, so, of course, we had the black and white. And next, month, in the Abbey, you will in fact, apart from the broadcast, have black and white, still, black and white, movie, three different companies running colour, films, and still color photography; and it's an extraordinary advance, and I tremble to think where it may lead, in the years ahead. Prince Charles, will, visit the Abbey, for a period, during the service, on Coronation Day. My final word to you, is to ask, all the people, throughout the great Commonwealth, of which she, reigns over, to think of the Queen, on the night of June the 1st when they retire; to ask God, to bless, and guide, and keep her." He sits down. | |
