| Description: | EAST AND WEST - SOME DANCE COMPARISONS Different styles of dancing are contrasted - exotic dancing, folk dancing and ballroom dancing. Three contrasting styles of dance. Outdoor pageant in a garden to show comparison of dance styles from the Eastern and Western worlds. Starts w/ dancers coming down steps in procession, dressed in a amalgamation of Eastern styles. Dissolve to shot of "Dasia", costumed in one of those wrinkly skirts and a top tied in front w/ bare midriff (harem outfit), doing an "exotic Eastern Dance." Behind her, the rest are arranged in a little panorama in front of a big staircase. The sultan sits in center, a few servants fan him w/ fans on long poles, some harem girls sit on ground, etc. Wider shot, showing pool in FG: Dasia finishes her dance w/ a dramatic finale, falling at the feet of the ruler. Next, a dance the title calls "the joyous youthful abandon of the West". Also in the garden, this is a bunch of barefoot young girls in tunics and headbands skipping back and forth, around in circles etc. Finally Ted Trevor & Dinah Harris dance on stage, performing a "whirly West-End Waltz." | |
