| Description: | ELEPHANTS CLEARING FELLED TREES IN THE JUNGLE Elephants trained to work at logging in jungle, somewhere in south or southeast Asia. Titles in French. Elephants are trained by cruel methods to push and pull large tree trunks through the jungle. MLS man stands on near side of fence; on other side of fence a half-grown elephant is inside a very narrow triangular pen, tied so that it can hardly move; the man is bopping the elephant in the face--probably not painful, just annoying. MCU poor elephant stands there tied up, bending its head down. Back to MLS view: the trainer is now sitting on the elephant which is still tied up; elephant lifts left back leg, then left front leg. The trainer (this is close enough to see that he is an elderly man, wrinkled and toothless but still spry) stands outside holding a rather placid chicken - titles say he's training elephant not to be afraid of birds. The elephant trumpets, sticking trunk out of bars; a white man in safari helmet grabs the trunk and laughs. LS tall tree falling in jungle; pan down as it falls to ground; man & 2 boys stand watching. LS bigger elephant, w/ man riding, bends down to push a log w/ its nose; the rider is barely hanging on. MLS young man leads an elephant which is dragging a log behind it. Title says the elephants can pull 4000 kilo trees. LS tilt down: row of elephants working together turn over a log with their trunks while boy riders whack them on the head. MLS 2 elephants head away on path dragging big log behind; some boys walk beside them. MS elephants stand in a row eating rice.
