| Description: | In perfect derby weather, fifty-year old jockey Charlie Smirke piloted an 18-1 Irish colt named Hard Ridden through a field of favorites to win his fourth derby a Epson Downs in the running of the 179th mile-and-a-half classic for three-year-olds. It was the second straight derby victory for Hard Ridden's owner Sir Victor Sasoon. And the very first for an Irish-bred-trained horse since 1907. Inside Epson Down and the throngs of racing fans in attendance. MS - Ladies walking around with these huge feathers on their hats, Pearlies. MCUS - Street sign, Epsom Downs. MLS - A parade of cars on the race track. MS - Queen Elizabeth I and Prince Philip in the back ground. LOHS - Epson Downs and throngs of racing fans, jam packed. CUS - Princess Margaret CUS - Queen Elizabeth II. CUS Queen Mum, Elizabeth I. MLS - The race horses come on to the track and they are lining up with no assistance of a starting gate. MLS - Horses are running neck to neck as they make it around the bend some horses move up at the rail. CUS - Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Elizabeth I heads turning to the left as they watch the running of the race. CUS - Horses hoofs as they race. MLS - Horses running around the bend and Hard Ridden moving up. MS - No #15 Hard Ridden out in front and he is the winner by 5 1/2/ lengths.
