| Description: | EVE AND THE BEAN Coffee plantation in West Indies. MCU West Indian man holding branch w/ coffee berries and leaves on it. MCU the man shows basket w/ the berries inside. MLS West Indian men walk in line carrying full baskets on their heads to the mill. ECU small pile of coffee berries; man's hands pick up berry, split it open & remove coffee bean. MLS worker knee-deep in coffee beans (or berries), w/ water coming down a chute into the pile; the man is scooping the water around to spread it among the coffee. MLS another man standing in a sort of cement vat, swirling water around with a sort of broom. MS a few workers standing in coffee; one guy is shoveling beans into (onto) a short barrel which is really already full. MLS a few people pass through area with some small shacks; man who looks like suntanned Caucasian strides past, followed by elderly black man carrying rake and younger workers carrying baskets on their heads. WS the old man uses rake to spread beans out across a wide flat yard; pan rt. to another area where workers are spreading beans out in the sun. MLS men raking beans. ECU pile of light-colored beans; white hands pick up beans & take them out of shells. MCU 2 black women examine box of beans, tossing some aside as being of inferior grade. | |
