| Description: | "FINGAL'S CAVE." Inner Hebrides, Scotland. General view taken on board a ferry boat on the way to the island of Staffa. We pass Lismore Light (lighthouse). As we near Staffa, passengers get into a smaller boat to get to the shore. M/S of Fingal's Cave, carved by the sea from volcanic rock. The unusual formation of the cave looks like several columns of rock with a mass of cloudy rock above. The boat pulls in towards the cave and people stand on the steps beside the entrance. Commentator talks of the composer Mendelssohn who was inspired during a visit to the cave to write his 'Fingal's Cave Overture', which is playing on the soundtrack. Shots of waves crashing against the rocks around the cave. | |
