M/S of foreman troutbreeder George Stevens and his assistant, Joe Moore, wheeling a trolley with several buckets and a spaniel on, towards the camera. The men pick up buckets and walk to the edge of one of the fish hatcheries' ponds. They scoop minced cod from the buckets and throw it into the pond for the trout. The water splashes and froths as the fish thrash around to get to the food. C/U of George. C/U of the bucket of cod at George's feet as he digs his trowel in. M/S of the cod landing in the water. C/U of the turbulent water. C/U of Teddy the spaniel sitting on the moving trolley - according to the narrator Teddy does not like trout! M/S of George and the trolley with large buckets of water and live trout on. Joe walks from the pond holding a fishing net full of live trout. C/U of fish being tipped into the bucket. George - the foreman trout breeder - picks up one of the "two or three year old" Brown and Loch Leeven trout and measures it, grading it according to size. C/U of George's face. C/U of George systematically placing fish on the wooden measuring block before dropping it into the bucket. M/S of the measuring process. M/S of George and Joe carrying a large bucket to the edge of the pond. C/U of live baby fish being tipped from the bucket into the pond. M/S of the ponds - "a constant supply of fresh running water is essential for the rearing of trout, and here it comes from the Welsh mountains' river Ceiriog".
