Two sophomores, Terry Hanratty and Jim Seymour, team up in a great passing combination for three touchdowns. Final: Irish 26 -- Boilermakers 14. High Angle Establishing Shot - South Bend, Indiana's Notre Dame football field. The Universities marching band is on the field spelling out Irish! High Angle Shot - Throngs packed the football stadium as they open their 80th football season. High Angle Shot - Bob Byor is carrying the football, for Notre Dame, he gets hit and the football flies out of his hands and into the hands of Leroy Keys - NO #23, he catches the loose football and runs 94-yards for Purdue's first touchdown. High Angle Shot - Purdue kicks the football to the Irish and half back McEddy catches the ball and runs straight down the middle with a group of blockers protecting him - resembling the flying wedge, it turns out to be 96-yard scoring run for Notre Dam, tying up the game 7-all. LS - The fans are excited, jumping up and down cheering. High Angle Shot - sophomore Aterry Hanratty NO #5 passes the ball , NO 35 catches the football and runs it in adding another 7 to their game score, Notre Dame 14 - Purdue 7. High Angle Shot - The fourth period opens and NO #5 passes the football, NO 85 - Jim Seymour catches the ball runs it in for a touchdown High Angle Shot - Purdue’s star passer, Bob Grease strikes back for Purdue, passing 25-yards to Jim Finley. High Angle Shot - Harry Williams dives into the end zone. Notre Dame 20 - Purdue 14. High Angle Shot - Deep into Purdue territory Bob Grease is hit hard., the ball pops loose and Harry Alexander recovers.
