| Description: | Foreign Invaders Of Panama Surrender "The Organization of American States - a five-nation investigating commission - supervised the surrender at the rebel-held 'beachhead' village of Nombre de Dios. Surrender came just one week after rebels who had organized and sailed from Cuba landed on the Caribbean coast of the tiny Panamanian republic. Panamanian authorities knew the inter-American alliance would restore peace - so they did not engage the invaders in battle but surrounded the rebel-held bridgehead with national guards and kept the invaders at bay. Thanks to the O.A.S. there was no bloodshed." Aerials of town (?) and water. Group of men talk, standing next to U.S. Air Force helicopter. The men are of many races, some in uniform. Also, a group of men that look like archetypal Latin American rebels or guerrillas (but no guns). | |
