A junta led by General Jacques Massu seizes power. To many colonials who oppose any moderate settlement with Moslem rebels look to Massu their spokesman. And by the tens of thousands they run riot through Algiers sacking the United States information agency and official buildings. A bitter product of a costly 43 month old rebellion without an end in sight and a chronic political crisis in Paris. This was the 28th day without a Premier in office. At Government House at Algiers even while the Junta was taken over the mobs searched through the crowds and the buildings finely 30 thousand massed outside to hear Massu launch a political thunderbolt.
