| Description: | FRENCH ARTS STUDENTS RAG Students "Execute" Cubism & Futurism. French art students at the renowned Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris "execute" effigies representing the modern art movements Cubism and Futurism, in a comic street theater type protest. Paris, France LSs of a costume procession outside the school buildings: "Futurisme" must be the kid peeking out between the buttons of a coat with a big ugly papier maché mask attached to the collar, above the wearer's head...and Cubisme must be the guy further back in the procession, wrapped in a blanket or something and carrying a big block. These 'criminal' modern arts are escorted by a crowd of students dressed up as medieval guards & executioners, a Cardinal, and an assortment of other ancient and medieval characters, as well as a larger number of students in street clothes. MLS costumed students gathered around as a guy in a Roman type costume makes a dramatic speech.(same guy was seen earlier with a "knife" stuck in his chest but now is minus knife and seems to be in good health). MLS "Futurism" bent over the execution block; executioner pretends to chop - and saw ! - -off his head. We don't get to see the fate of Cubism. Ends with LS students lined up along a bridge; something (one of the heads possibly?) is thrown from the bridge. | |
