| Description: | World War One; medical. French soldiers receive vaccination against typhoid. MS soldiers lined up at building w/ a small Red Cross flag hanging from it - each man salutes a medical officer who asks him something; some are sent inside; others sent off other way. Officer & some others then enter the building (which by the way looks like a nice vine-covered cottage). MS Soldiers sit w/ shoulder & back uncovered; 1 doctor (?) or medical assistant - first performs test; which looks as if he's painting something on their backs -- a trianglular spot; w/ a darker; smaller spot on top. Then a doctor w/ the needle & syringe w/ vaccine follows him round behind the men; 1st man stands. 01.41.03.26 CU man's back; doctor's hand grabbing the "painted" spot between his fingers; and w/ other hand; injecting the vaccine. Back to MS scene. Man stands; the medical assistant pats him like there that wasn't so bad. Man says something; salutes; walks off; Next victim stands. They examine his spot - but he and next 2 guys all get off w/o the shot; they leave. Ends w/ doctor pointing; giving some order. Health; disease; science; medicine | |
