| Description: | FROLICS AND FROCKS - AT THE KINE CARNIVAL Fancy dress ball (costume dance) in London, 1922. Dimly lit. Party-goers in fancy dress enjoy dancing and a fashion show at the Kine Carnival. London LS looking through wide doorway at couples on crowded dance floor. MS couples (incl. many in a great variety of costumes) dancing past camera; bright light falls across them. Willie Clarkson & unidentified woman partner, dressed in a sort of Arabian Nights theme. He kneels tying a balloon to her ankle; title says he makes a bet the balloon won't last the first round. 3 other women in different period costumes stand with them laughing. MLS couples dancing past camera. Fashion show. Crowd sit around edge of ballroom floor watching model in Hockley "rest gown" walking across the floor. The loose, dropped waist gown is of shiny sort of crinkly fabric ("tissue") and has floor-length caftan style sleeves of sheer chiffon. MLS model poses in gown, standing in corner of ballroom; she holds arms out to show sleeves. MS pan up from feet. MLS model turns around. LS another model promenades down the ballroom floor as party-goers watch. As in previous gown, closer shots posing in corner; this gown is sleeveless, w/ fabric sort of draped around and gathered at the hip; has a train which she holds out to side; also wearing a long printed scarf wrapped around her head, tied in back of head; the ends are tied around her wrists. MS she turns around to show this. MLS she walks off. People in a great variety of costumes parade around the ballroom. Costumes incl just about every era of history and area of the world. The band accompany the parade, walking alongside while playing their instruments.
