| Description: | This segment is fun alright. Good 1970s fashions. It begins with a shot of people strolling through a city park. There is a large fountain in the center of the view. It is a bright sunny day and people seem to be taking notice of that fact. Rear view of a band set up and playing in the park. The band consists of a guitar player, bass player, organist, drummer and singer. CU of hands hitting the organ keys. CU of hand strumming the electric guitar with a pick. CU of a piece of Peg-Board with the words "UP WITH YOUTH" displayed on it. Shot of three African-American women and one African-American man seated at a table. One of the women reads a pamphlet. Shot of a booth set up by the "Scorpio Teen Club". A Caucasian man and a Caucasian woman stand behind the booth as an African-American man browses. CU of a yellow and red polka-dotted papier-mache pig. (So 70's I can't stand it) CU of a black & white rabbit in a cage drinking from its water bowl. Shot of a group of kids performing a dance routine on a stage. There are two Caucasian girls in the front row, wearing black leotards and black tights. There is an African-American girl and an African-American boy in the second row. The girl wears a leotard and tights, the boy wears street clothes. Now here comes the fun part.... A Caucasian man with his arms raised in the air, gyrates to the music that is playing. He looks very preacher-like, trying to move the spirit of the crowd. The crowd consists of blacks and whites, young and old. Camera pans the crowd. Good shots of people get'n down and dancing. Good source for 1970's fashion and style. Memorable audience members include: two young African-American men standing with their hands in their pockets nonchalantly tapping their feet to the beat, three rowdy African-American women waving and dancing, an older Caucasian man clapping his hands, an African-American woman wearing sunglasses dancing and snapping her fingers and finally a young Caucasian woman dressed in polyester bliss. Shot of preacher man again , still with his arms in the air. This time his arms are really trying to lift the people as the music in the background sings "Want to take you higher, baby, baby, baby, light my fire". | |
