| Description: | Same as catalog # 491816 Tape 7551 B Funeral of French statesman Andre Maginot, January, 1932; Maginot was the Former Minister of War, for whom the "Maginot Line" was named. Natural sound. Maginot's coffin is carried out of building and lifted onto a gun carriage, as honor guard stand by and band plays. MLS coffin is draped with a large flag. It is pulled away from the Ministry past the Army band. Funeral procession passing very near camera; young soldiers walk alongside; old Generals & politicians walk behind the gun carriage. High ang. army marching band turning corner. CU streetlamp covered with black gauze. More soldiers marching round corner; the gun carriage and mourners. CU the veiled lamp again. LS pan with Pierre Laval walking in procession. Laval , standing in a little decorated booth, gives the funeral oration, in which he praises Maginot's foresight in supporting military preparedness. Cut away to MCU VIPs. Back to Laval. Cuts off before the end of the elegy. | |
