| Description: | Germ Warfare: U.S. And Reds Clash In U.N. Over Issue. America's UN delegate-at-large Ernest Gross replies to communist charges of germ-warfare use in Korea with a flat denial, as the June meeting of the United Nations Security Council gets off to a heated start, with Russia's Jacob Malik chairman (nice shot of him). Shot of what looks like spectator box in the UN. Mr. Gross says, "For some time, there has been underway, on the part of the government of the Soviet Union, a campaign which has been repeatedly characterized by all responsible officials of the unified command and by others in a position to know the facts, a campaign - false and malicious - regarding the use of bacteriological warfare in Korea. In view of the nature of the statement which the representative of the Soviet Union has made this afternoon, I do not intend at this time to go into detail regarding the nature of that campaign of lies nor to elaborate other than to say that the United States has not, and is not, using germ warfare of any kind in Korea." | |
