| Description: | Same as catalog # 492811 Tape 7551 B German Reichstag Elections, 1932. Mostly mute, but a bit of poor quality sound does pop up in a few places. Trans.of French title: "the President, members of government and the population voted in the calm of their capital, deprived by a strike of almost all its means of transport." Berlin, Germany. MLS supporters of various political parties stand outside polling place holding placards; a crowd of other people press in close behind them. There is an SA man holding a Hitler poster (not very legible). MLS pan with a blind man with cane and dark glasses being assisted out of the polling place; he also wears armband with 3 dots arranged in a triangle. Low angle shot of fronts of tall old buildings with flags sticking out some windows; flags may represent parties - but no Nazi one seen. Voters going in and out of the polling place. A tram comes round the corner, driven by soldiers (nat. sound here). There is some shouting and whistling. Another shot of voters coming and going past the political workers. MS soldier salutes, he and a bunch of civilians look left.....as MS President Paul von Hindenburg gets out of car, tips his hat to crowd as he walks past. MS Press men with still and movie cameras standing on boxes behind some civilians. MS Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath exits after voting; he stops and smiles, a woman stands beside him, maybe Frau von N? Pan with Franz von Papen & wife as they exit and walk to curb, where some photographers stop him to ask for a picture. Shot of von Papen posing with people in crowd. Pan with an open car full of soldiers and unidentified man, passing round a corner and down street . MLS a row of campaign workers with their placards - incl. Social Democrats, Deutschland Party, Nazi Party and Communist Party. | |
