| Description: | ON PREVIEW CASSETTE # 210977 A What say we travel to Mexico and hunt the enormous Grouper Fish, a large bottom-feeding sea bass so slow and harmless that even the VO questions its placement on the list of game fish. That doesn't stop two Mazatlan land barons from diving deep and spearing a 500lb specimen, though. Somehow, this gets confused for bravery and courage. MS's Mexican parade, night: mariachi band, traditional dancers, fireworks, crowd. Cut to MS's Mexicans walking, sitting on park benches, riding in cars and horse-drawn carriages. EST shots Puerto Vallarta. LS's touristy beach areas. LS's resort hotel; MS's employees catering to American tourists. MS several men playing burro polo (as inane and obvious as it sounds). LS's village area outside hotel district; MS's locals sitting on benches in town square, talking and people-watching. MS's female Indian villagers tending to chores; low angle tLS trickling waterfallà à subjective and objective shots of parasailing. EST shots Mazaltan. MS cliff diver jumping into sea. MS JORGE and SERGIO COPPEL, two wealthy locals who own several businesses and much real estate; MS's store signs bearing the Coppel name. MS's inside a crowded trophy room, stuffed and mounted heads of water buffalo, deer, leopards, wild boar, wallabies, bears, antelope and so on, adorning walls. Stills of the Coppels posing with shark and grouper trophiesà à MS's Coppel brothers and their crew loading a rusty shrimp boat with gear and oxygen tanks. LS's old heavily barnacled shrimper. EST shots Maria Isabella Island and gall cliffs. (the VO becomes particularly whiny about everything here) MS's huts, animal remains and burned-out campgrounds on island shore. MS's and LS's large seabird population. MS's Coppels, their white floozies and a professional underwater photographer donning Scuba gear and wetsuits, then jumping into water. Underwater shots of schools of fish scurrying atop coral bottom, divers with spearguns going deep, combing reef caves for grouper. Great material, here. They find one, but it fortunately gets away. The divers surface, board dingees, board shrimper. MS's Coppels anmd crew telling fish stories, readying equipment for following dayà à LS sun rising over island, POV from boat. MS sea turtle in bucket (the evening's dinner). MS's Coppels donning gear, diving into water. Underwater shots of coral floor, fish, grouper feeding on ocean floor; the divers shoot the grouper with a spear gun, then get taken for a brief ride as grouper tries to get away; mortally wounded grouper tries to dig into the ocean floor; divers surface, then go down to relocate the grouper; they grab the beast, bring it to the surface. MS crew hauling dead 500 lb grouper onto shrimper via crane. MS's men sitting on deck and drinking beer, dead grouper in FG. LS's ship lifting anchor, sailing off. | |
