Film star Susan Hayward and her husband (?) arrive as commentator says Susan later won the best actress award (for 'I Want To Live'). Inside the auditorium we see L/S of Irene Dunne and John Wayne on the stage as they present the best actor award to the dashing David Niven (for 'Separate Tables'). M/S of a huge Oscar figure. Back onstage a very glam Rosalind Russell (great outfit topped with glittery turban) presents a special honorary Oscar to Maurice Chevalier for his performance in the film 'Gigi'. Another gorgeous pair, singer / actor Dean Martin and actress Sophia Loren present the Oscar for best song to Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe for 'Gigi'. Commentator says 'Gigi' won 9 Oscars in all, the highest since 'Gone With The Wind'. | |
