| Description: | From the issue PICTORIAL LOOKS AT MODERN WOMAN London. General view of Fleet Street with St Paul's Cathedral in the distance. In an office we see the Art Editor of Reuters talking on the telephone. A young woman, Reuters photographer Pat Holden, walks in and looks over the man's shoulder. Good general office scene. He hands her a brief and she leaves the office. Pat comes out of Reuters Building carrying her camera & photo equipment, chats to a male photographer on the way in, then looks at her watch and hails a taxi. At Great Ormond Street Hospital Pat is taken by a nurse into a ward. Inside, we see several shots of Pat preparing her camera and taking a photograph of a baby in a cot. Cu child - pan to flash light and camera. Pat takes out plate and loads camera. Cu girl inserting slide and adjusting camera. Pan to nurse looking at child. Ms girl and nurse pointing at cot. Cu girl looking at cot with camera. Ms girl looking at cot with camera - she takes picture. Lowers camera. Men at work in the office picture despatch department. Pat stops to check out a photo from a fashion shoot she worked on. In the dark room CU Photograph of girl. MS In processing dept. enlarging. MS Girl comes along corridor - goes in door. Dissolve to girl and two men looking at negative in dark room. CU Pat Holden. MS Dissolve to girl in another department. MS Pat Holden with cup of tea - takes off hat. Opens letter. MS Pat Holden at desk with letter - drinks tea. CU Drinking tea. MS At desk - looks up as man enters - talks - looks at paper. Girl drinks more tea. CU Pat Holden looks up and smiles and looks down again. Fade out. Note: Pat was 22 years old at the time of this film. She was the first (professional) woman to take General Eisenhower's picture. | |
