| Description: | GLASS ARTIST Glass engraving artist John Hutton seen at work in his studio London M/S of artist John Hutton in his studio in London; some large panels of engraved glass are standing around. John walks over to a workbench, picks up a glass vase and an electric grinding machine and starts to work on it. C/U as he turns the vase round so we can see the engraving; it shows a figure, looks like an angel blowing a horn. M/S showing John working on the vase as it is lit by an overhead lamp with a magnifying glass attached as commentator tells us this New Zealand artist engraves vases with differing designs to be sold at Coventry Cathedral; some of the proceeds going to the Cathedral's Appeal Fund. C/U of the engraving through the magnifying glass as John smoothes it over with his thumb. M/S as John examines the finished vase as we are informed he is currently working on ninety engraved glass panels for the Cathedral. M/S of a very large glass mural on the wall, with many angelic figures engraved on it; it will later become one of the doors to the Cathedral. M/Ss and C/Us as we see John working with the grinder on another glass panel, and wiping over his work with a wet cloth. Commentator tells us he has spent seven years on this project and has two more to go. | |
