Description:GLASS DOME STUDIO An experimental prototype of new type of a studio - a sphere made of triangular windows.

Kingston Hill, Surrey.

L/S of a large, unusual looking building surrounded by the trees. It is a large sphere made of triangular pieces which are apparently the windows. M/S of the building allows closer look at the triangles creating the 'dome'. L/S of the building from the outside. A woman carrying a tray enters the building. She climbs up the stairs into a nicely furnished room. This unusual building is a family house - voiceover tells the audience. A young architect Mr Hugh Pope, (working currently as an assistant architect on the new Coventry Cathedral designed by Basil Spence) and his wife Jennie live in the dome. Mr Pope has created their home as an experimental prototype of the new type of studio. The dome is made of "bolted, wooden triangular frames, resting on a firm circular base; glass is fitted into the frames and each "window" is fitted inside with removable insulating panel." M/S of Mrs Pope walking towards Mr Pope who is sitting at his desk, working. As a good wife, she brings drinks (refreshments) and then sits on the bed watching her husband work. Medium, over the shoulder, shot of Mr Pope allows the audience to see his drawing. C/U shot of Mr Pope's face as he works. C/U shot of his hands as he works. M/S of Mrs Pope reading a magazine and occasionally looking at her husband admiringly. They exchange a smile and a few words. M/S of Mr Pope getting off his desk to open one of the triangular windows. C/U shot (from the outside) of one of the opened windows. M/S of Mr Pope taking an insulating panel off one of the windows above his desk, so there is more light. He sits and continues his work while Mrs Pope starts cleaning the windows. C/U shot of Mrs Pope cleaning a window. Low angle M/S of the roof (dome) with all panels removed - great for stargaze - tells the voiceover. L/S of the unusual building from the outside.
