More shots of the funeral of Paul Painleve as it heads towards the Pantheon. The coffin arrives at the Pantheon and is carried up the steps. [Paul Painlevé died October 29, 1933, at the age of 69. He was the first Frenchman in powered flight (with Wilbur Wright), and later seved as French air minister. He served in several posts, including war minister, in the First World War before becoming Premire in 1917. He served in that post again in 1925. As a mathematician, he worked on complex function theory, differential equasions, and the astronomical three body problem.] | |
