| Description: | Child humour - surely no variety can be funnier than the artless (and sometimes endless!) questions of a child. The New Empire Review now presents the famous Child Impersonator Harry Hemsley - Star of Variety & Radio. London? M/S of Harry Hemsley sitting at an easel. There is an armchair facing him (turned away from the camera) and he tells a child, supposedly sitting in the chair, that he is going to make a picture of her. As he turns towards the easel we hear the child speak - obviously it is Harry, but quite a clever act! He keeps up a conversation with 'the little girl' while he draws her portrait; 'the girl' asks him a stream of questions - it's quite funny. When the portrait is finished the child won't admit that it looks like her, so Harry calls out to a little boy, Johnny. Harry then turns the chair around to face the camera so we can see it is empty, and says, in a little girl voice "I've been talking to myself!". He laughs in the same voice - a bit freaky! | |
