Only the mechanics of admitting the state (some 2,000 miles from continental United States) remain. A two day celebration goes into high gear in Honolulu. Huge bonfires, aerial and offshore military pyrotechnics, and of course hula dancing in the streets. Gestures of gratitude over the prospective ending of territorial status for the islands of Hawaii. Hail! Hawaii, U.S.A. Hawaiian scouts (? - boys saluting). Children receive flags apparently designed for the occasion. Women delight the cameraman with hula dancing. | |
