| Description: | HEARING HISTORY (aka OLD INSTRUMENT MAKER) Andrew Brown show us the reproductions of ancient musical instruments he has made. Streatham, London. Andrew Brown, a violinist from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is seen carving a kind of circular wooden violin base on a workbench. MS Man putting base of old instrument together on workbench with other instruments hanging from wall. He begins to saw a part of the instrument he is making. CS Man sawing. He finishes and fixes parts to base. MS Man putting top on to parts of instrument he turns and walks out of door. MS Looking over man's shoulder in lounge as he walks into room with instruments on wall. CS Man takes one instrument from wall. MS He examines it then sits down lifts bow and starts to play the Vielle, a violin from the time of William the Conqueror. He plays then puts instrument down. CS Man picks up strange bamboo cane instrument the Ur Heen (ancient Chinese instrument) from shelf of instruments puts it down and examines another bamboo instrument which has a coconut on the end the Ravanastron. CS The Ravanastron with three holes in it's top man swivels it round to show single string on it's front then puts it down CS Four instruments hanging on wall. CS Man taking Welsh Crwth, which looks like a Greek harp or Hebrew lyre, from bench and sitting down with it. He begins to play. He finishes playing. | |
