| Description: | ON PREVIEW CASSETTE #210841 B An instructional film from the Upjohn company dealing with MGA, a grain additive that tempers the attitude and bulks the weight of heifers; based upon a Q&A classroom format (the teacher and the farmer/students possess deep Southern accents and inexplicable youth, all in their early twenties). There is much classroom verbiage but also a great deal of cattle farm and slaughterhouse scenes. The following are just a few of the shots involved..... 0' to 100'..........MS of cattle feeding in an enclosed pen... LS's of cattle grazing in an open field... MS's of cows staring at the camera.... the classroom session begins at the farming institute as an oily, pimply young man in an ugly tan suit talks to a roomful of young male and female farmers. 100' to 200'......LS's and MS's of restless (some are in heat) cows in an enclosed pen; they headbutt each other and try mounting one another.... MS and LS of cows eating grain. 200' to 300'.......CU of a calculator being operated 300' to 400'.......CU's of heifers and steers, all earmarked for sale and/or slaughter, in a pen on a sunny day... MS of a grain dump truck being filled with grain from a grain feeder... CU's of cows feeding from a grain trough. Then it's off to "Bovine University".... 400' to 500'......tight LS, interior of a meat packing plant: lines of cow carcasses hang from the ceiling (all skinned and gutted) as a man in a long white coat drives a lift-loader of new carcasses into room... MS of a man inspecting a row of hanging carcasses, takes a knife and easily slices parts off as they come by... MS of man stamping hanging cuts of beef as they pass him... CU of the stamp. 500' to 600'......tight LS of a rancher on horseback in heifer pen during dawn... classroom roundup (no pun intended) | |
