| Description: | HIGH SPEED COOKERY Women workers in cookie factory, making those wafers with layers of sugary frosting in between crispy pastry. Making ice cream wafers - the various processes involved. United Kingdom MCU bucket of batter being poured into a square tub; another woman (only part of her torso seen) turns and dips a square tool which fits exactly into the tub. MLS row of women at their machines performing this work. They are also working on mechanical multi-sided griddles which have tops like waffle irons which fold down onto the hot surface and produce thin squares of wafers. MCU woman picks up the tool she has dipped into the mixture and stamps it down on the griddle, leaving rows of oval-shaped bits of batter. The top folds down over this and while this one is being cooked, the "griddle" rotates and another side opens up revealing a finished sheet of wafer. Worker removes this square and puts it on a stack of others, then stamps another bunch of batter drops onto this mechanical griddle. CU super mixer; worker adds large scoop of a mixture of sugar & burnt almonds into the mixing bowl and the beater turns at high speed. MS odd machine in which this filling is put into a tub, then comes out through rollers and oozes out in a mess - not even in smooth layers. MCU woman spreading this filling on a square of wafers. She adds 2 more wafer squares to the stack, then spreads on another thin layer of filling, then another wafer. MS woman using tool to quickly cut the stacked squares of wafers & filling into a bunch of small bars - the finished product. MCU woman packing wafers into boxes. CU woman consumer at home picks up wafer and takes a bite, smiles happily. | |
