| Description: | Hiroshima: City Observes Sixth A-Bomb Anniversary. On the sixth anniversary of its atom-bomb devastation, Hiroshima prays for those who died and builds for those who live. Amazing rebuilding strides have been accomplished by this city which seeks peace on the ashes of war's greatest catastrophe. Men look through some of the rubble, ruins. (Aftermath.) Japanese man (Hiroshima victim) shows the camera his back - his skin was harmed by the bomb's explosion. VS construction of buildings underway, Japanese men working. Sign: "Houses for Hiroshima... To build understanding by building houses that there may be peace." Caucasian (white) folks, including women, help with construction. Bell rings; Japanese people pause and bow their heads (prayer?). Crowd of people burn incense, pray and mourn. VS street scenes, pedestrians, light auto traffic and bicycles. Very wide panning shot of city. | |
