| Description: | Brush fires sweep over the Australian island state of Tasmania, killing at least 55 persons and leaving thousands homeless. Some twelve towns in the suburbs of Hobart, the island's capital city, are wiped out. Estimated total damage: 500 million dollars. Establishing shot - Scenic view of the Island State of Tasmania. Tasmania's lush green cattle and farm land. MS - Smoke filling up the sky's. CU - Fire burning in the forest. Gale force winds feed and spread the fire. MS - The suburbs of Hobart was hard hit, many lives lost and homes destroyed. Low Angle Shot - The remains of a destroyed smoldering building. CU - Power lines laying on the ground, the base of the pole was totally destroyed by fire. MS - Pile of rubble that once were homes, destroyed. CU- A little boy picks of one of his toys from his burned out home. CU - Snug Area School, totally gutted, destroyed. MS - Dead cattle and sheep laying all over the ground, they either burned to death by the encroaching fire or had to be shot by the farmers. CU - Cars burned out and the metal is distorted and twisted from the heat of the fire, a lot of automobiles exploded just from the heat of the fire. | |
