| Description: | Master 1 - Tape 1 Democratic candidate for president, Hubert Humphrey, walks onstage prior to Chicago Democratic Convention of 1968. He shakes hands with Richard J. Daley, Mayor of Chicago, Illinois. A few other city officials get onstage to bask in Humphrey's glow. Camera pans cheering audience, which gives a standing ovation. Humphrey keeps saying "Thank you very much." Camera zooms into CU of Humphrey as he whispers something to Daley. Still photographers take photos FG. Humphrey recognizes someone in the audience and points in recognition. Eventually, he sits down. He starts to give his speech but all we hear is "We've been going, we've been moving, we've been trying some things." These are probably outs from some larger film, documents of the rally Daley held for Illinois delegates before the convention. Drawings of a building on an easel behind HHH. | |
