A man stuffs mud and grass into the hole to stop the flame. Other flaming lamp bases are seen about the place. ARP wardens, policemen and military men (US and British) survey the damage. The public are kept at a safe distance behind barricades. Trees have been stripped of their leaves and knocked over. More examining of shrapnel - probably case of a V1 or V2 rocket. Twisted park chair lies on the ground. Man in a suit hits one of the lamp bases with a mallet but it carries on flaming. | |
