| Description: | In the Ruhr today. Every endeavour is made to alleviate sufferings of women and children.... Women and children queue up outside a soup kitchen, several of them chat to French officers. MS of women and children standing in line outside of doorway, french captain smiles and talks to some of them. MS of french offical talking to old ladies. MS Interesting shot, volunteers' backs are to the camera and we are able to see the lines of people waiting for food from the open window. M/S from inside as two ladies fill cans and jugs with soup. '...but the French troops have an efficacious, if rough, way of dealing with deliberate affronts.' A soldier walks up to a young man standing with his bicycle, he knocks the boy's hat off and smacks him round the head then marches off. Another boy is punched and kicked by two officers. | |
