India MS 3 Indian musicians kneel on ground playing wind instruments made of gourds. 2 toddlers stand next to them in FG heads of cobras start to rise. MCU cobra in wicker basket rising as snake charmer squats very near. "What is this extraordinary power over the reptiles, a power which has often been doubted, yet which is there and unexplained." MCU one of the musicians plays while holding one arm around one of the little boys. CU cobra. MS all 3 charmers & cobras. CU man's arm reaches in to repace cover on basket. "Dancing has a big place here - always symbolical and often terrifying." Male dancers wearing fantastic costmes perform a wild dance, jumping high in the air & spinning around. MS musicians (2 drummers & wind instrument) play while other men stand with them clapping in rhythm. "Jazz drummers please note." Slow-motion of dancers leaping and spinning. 2 assistants put ring over man's head to show that it is too small to fit over his shoulders. Next; they stand holding up the ring while behind them children sit watching. Suddenly the performer appears from rt.; jumping up and head first through the ring. Several shots of fakir diving through a hoop which is apparently too small for him to pass through. We see the stunt in slow motion and from several angles. | |
