A demonstration of pure power - an industrial crane is so controllable by expert driver Bill Goldring that he can pick up a single egg. Various shots of Bill using the crane to move coke at Littlehampton Railway Station. C/U of the bucket of the crane as Bill carefully closes the two claws to pick up the egg. Narrator describes how Bill has worked for the Railway for half a century. He is operating 60 feet away from the egg. He drops the egg to prove that it is real, it smashes on a railway sleeper. Another egg is carefully picked up. This time it is more difficult as it is balanced on the edge of a concrete wall. Narrator ends with a joke as the egg is dropped again to prove it isn't hard boiled - "There is only one word for it - smashing!" | |
