| Description: | INDUSTRIAL ONE-ARM BANDIT ( aka INDUSTRIAL ONE ARMED BANDIT aka FACTORY ROBOT aka KITCHEN OF THE FUTURE) Spooky glimpse of the year 2000, where people are served breakfast and champagne by a robot arm. (futuristic) London. Various shots at a factory show a mechanical arm that assists in the making of plastic moulding sinks. The 'Unimate' is seen putting in place the cover of another 'Unimate' that is being manufactured; each machine has one mechanical arm attached to a huge base. A man in the factory uses a control box to move the arm about. We then see a sequence set in the future, the year 2000, where the robot arm is employed in a kitchen to take toast from a toaster, butter it, pour a cup of tea and serve it to a man sitting at a table reading a newspaper. A woman sits filing her nails. When the man goes off to work, the woman puts on her lipstick while the Unimate takes a bottle of champagne from the fridge. C/U of the cork mysteriously popping off by itself; the arm then pours a glass for the woman and 'hands' it to her, spilling most of it in rather jerky movements. C/U of the woman drinking the champagne. I think she could have done it herself in half the time. | |
