| Description: | INJURED BUDGIE Joey the Budgie has a swan's quill splint put on his broken leg. M/Ss and C/Us of two female vets at the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals in Ilford, Essex, as they look at a budgie (budgerigar, parakeet), Joey, in a cage on the table before them. One of them lifts Joey out of the cage as commentator tells us he has a broken leg. The other vet selects a swan quill from a bunch and cuts off a section to make into a tiny splint for Joey. While the first vet holds Joey, this one attaches the splint to his leg; commentator says "Birds have a low nervous system, so the 'operation' is not as painful as it looks'. The splint is taped to Joey's leg, while he swivels his head about and looks slightly distressed; C/U of Joey clutched in the vet's hand. He is then put back in his cage where he staggers about a little, then hops onto the finger of one of the vets and nibbles on her finger. | |
