| Description: | “The Newsreel Association having offered equal facilities to the three principal Political Parties, present in this issue of Pathe News an interview with The Rt. Hon Clement Davies. GC MP.” Pathe Studios, 109 Wardour St., London. Clement Davies sitting in front of Fireplace set in Studio . Clement Davies MP, Leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Party, outlines the party’s plans for the forthcoming General Election. He attacks both Labour (Socialists) and the Tories (Conservatives). He says: "The British mode of Life is a Liberal way of Life and I believe that the British People are liberals at heart and in thought. Every day I hear from people who are sick and tired of the Socialist Government and of the Tories. They are fed up with class warfare and extremism either of the right or the left. They want a new approach, they want a national approach and the Liberal Party can give it to them. The Liberal Party enters this election far stronger than it has been for over twenty years. We shall have 400 Liberal candidates in the Field and if you want the Liberal Life of this country to continue--that is social reform without Socialism, profit sharing for workers in industry ,income tax reform, sound administration and bold tackling of our economic problems, a wide-world expansion of our trade, no more wasteful expenditure on peacetime conscription and above all absolute respect for the Liberty of the Individual--then you will want a Liberal Government and if you want a Liberal Government you will vote for the Liberal candidate on 23rd February next." Political speech, political ad. (Davies was the Member of Parliament from Montgomery.) | |
