Denies allegation that trucks had driver over a Confederate memorial; says there were no trucks, only a sound system on a car; says it was impossible to get permission from hostile authorities. Says blacks are being intimidated from coming into town to visit government offices and social service agencies , for ex. stopped by cops for false charges, also cases of police brutality. Proposes that a new center be opened in Mayfield to avert these problems. Says whites don't like the way that blacks are winning within the system; "they're trying to force us to riot....but we're not going to do it" | |
