Mute clips of groovy actors and singers on stage. Dancing, singing, people in masks - all just a little odd (especially without any sound). Munich, Germany The first part is footage of "Broadway Express": what looks like an absurdist play of the period (think Ionesco): huge case on huge stage performing a musical number of some sort: people in normal street dress, masks, showgirl costumes, heavy stylized makeup dancing wildly. Wacky. A woman in blackface and an old matron bouncing up and down on a chair. Well-filmed and edited; too bad thre is no soundtrack. Theatre, Dance, Musical, number. Clip of routine called 'The Congo Car'. Lots of African dancers, witch doctors, spears etc. A wild, frenetic, sexy African dance. Cheap-looking sets but great filming; exciting and typically "tribal": man at the point of spears. 2 great CUs of smooth black woman smoking. Third part is a "Slaughter on 10th Ave" or "Blues Car" type ballet in a bar. Amazing woman contortionist balances wineglass for benefit of patrons. Showgirls dance madly, drink, hoof, tap. Fun Fun Fun. | |
