Description:JERRY THE TROUBLESOME TYKE - HE BREAKS OUT Our cartoon friend Jerry goes into a pub and gets horrendously drunk. Switches between animation and "live" film of artist. Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. comedy, alcohol, drunk, intoxication

The cartoon artist Sid Griffiths sits down at his drawing table, a small easel is in front of him with a piece of paper propped up on it. Sid dips his pen into the inkpot and begins to draw. Jerry appears from his pen. Sid puts his pen down, wags his finger at Jerry then rubs his hands together as he looks at the bottle of alcohol beside his drawing board. He picks up the bottle. Jerry looks excited. A question mark appears beside him. Sid pours himself a drink - whisky? He adds some water. Sid holds it towards Jerry who puts his hands out. Sid takes it away and Jerry looks angry. Sid toasts Jerry then drinks the glass of whisky. Sid smiles at Jerry who asks: "What about MY thirst?" Sid shakes his head and tips the bottle up to show that it is empty. "Sorry, Jerry, but we've run dry." Sid puts his finger in the air - he has an idea. He begins to draw. He draws a pub for Jerry who is very pleased by this. Sid puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out some money for Jerry. He gives him a half crown coin. Jerry imagines the barrels of beer he will buy. He kicks the coin into the saloon bar and follows behind it. "There won't be any change!!" he says. Sid shrugs his shoulders and settles down to read his newspaper. "At the end of an hour and a half - crown!" Jerry careers out of the pub - drunk! He then gets the hiccups. Sid looks up from his paper. Jerry rubs his eyes. Shot of Sid - completely blurred, as if seen through the eyes of Jerry! The camera moves around and goes in and out of focus. It then flashes between negative and positive. Jerry hiccups. Sid looks cross. "Jerry! Surely you're not DRUNK!!" Jerry replies "I MUST be!!" He then says: "Look! A red one!!" [instruction on film here to "Insert 2 Green"] Sid looks out of the window as if looking for what Jerry is referring to. He shakes his head. "Look! A BLUE one!!" shouts Jerry. [instruction to "Insert 4 Pink"] Sid looks around and scratches his head. "Blue what?" he asks. "Camel!!" replies Jerry. He then falls over and hiccups some more. End.
