| Description: | JERRY THE TROUBLESOME TYKE - IN AND OUT OF WEMBLEY Jerry, the dog hero of the cartoon, visits the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley Stadium. Includes both animation and real film of the Exhibition and a combination of both. The first part, all cartoon, has Jerry knocking over a billboard painter and being chased by a picture of a lion which has come to life. He flees to the stadium, climbs over the wall. Wide shot Indian Pavillion w/ fabulous Taj Mahal-style architecture; cartoon J. in FG. J. I cartoon boat rowing on the Lake. All cartoon picture of J. looking at amusement park. Real amusement park: wide shot looking over ticket booth, etc., toward the Jack & Jill ride, in which a mechanical car carried riders to the top of a tower, at which point the bottom dropped out and they came down on slides. Shot which was actually filmed while descending on slide, w/ cartoon J. drawn in. All cartoon: J. reaches bottom. Next, shot filmed from front of a car on the Scenic Railway, a cool old roller coaster; again, cartoon J. & car drawn in to look like he is on the ride, looking alternately scared and sick. All cartoon: ride attendant tricks J. into going on an even wilder roller coaster, telling him it is not as bad. Shots as before from the Giant Racer. Camera is jerking about crazily. Looks really fast and fun. After heading up a steep hill, switches to all cartoon: J. goes flying out of his seat and off through the air. Jerry comes flying through sky from far away and lands in top of a double-decker bus. Conductor, nonplused, asks only "How far?" Jerry, "As far as you can take me from Wembley!" | |
