Kaiser and General Paul von Hindenburg walking down steps. Hindenburg gets into car. Kaiser with quartermaster General Erich Ludendorf talking by the automobile L. also gets into car. Car starts to leave; Kaiser & Crown Prince Wilhelm watch. . Kaiser walks back up steps. Next; MCU Hindenburg and Ludendorff (?) study map. Excellent scenes from German Army HQ. In foyer of HQ, a German officer enters room; is greeted by another; wearing cape. They shake hands; talk. Man w/ cape exits. Next, MS Group of German officers huddled round a table, where a high ranking General officer (von Francois???) is pointing out something on a map to a few younger officers. German Army Communications office at Headquarters: officers stand at facing tables typing on some sort of machines which involve tape and conical spindles =while another man stands by them reading aloud from a paper he is holding. Next; MCU switchboard operator wearing headphones, working busily; another man doing same beside him. Wider shot; busy scene w/ several men at switchboards; talking on telephones; etc. Then shot of street (outside HQ? - an official building with sentry on duty; soldiers entering & exiting bldg.; one jumps on motorbike; rides toward cam.& past. Interior MS a general (Otto von Emmich?) sits alone; writing; a subordinate officer brings paper to be signed. They give it to uniformed messenger. | |
